People young and not-so-young came together to feed the hungry in Pierce County. Everyone enjoyed themselves, as you can see by these 2009 Hunger Walk photos.

Nearly 1,000 people helped feed the hungry by walking the 5K or 10 K routes on Saturday, October 10, 2009 as we raised money for hungry families, children, and seniors in our local and global communities. The Pierce County
Associated Ministries Hunger Walk is the largest walk for hunger in the Pacific Northwest and generates the largest contribution to local food banks in the Tacoma-Pierce County area.
Together with your help, the Pierce County Associated Ministries Hunger Walk, now in its 29th year, has helped raise an average of $200,000 a year, which transfers into over $1M a year in food distributed to hungry children, families, and seniors. All funds raised go to addresing the issue of hunger both locally and globally and support local food banks and international hunger programs you choose.
We all know how difficult times are right now with the economic recession and for this reason, this year’s Hunger Walk was even more important. Your fundraising efforts were extremely important, as we help feed those in our congregations and community who are struggling to feed their families.
There are two routes to walk, a 5K (3.1 mile) route or a 10K (6.2 mile) route, both beginning and ending at First Christian Church, at the corner of Orchard and 6th in Tacoma. Download Route Maps
Online pledge form is available here. Bring your pledge form to the walk to register. Registration is from 8:00 am to 10:00 am the day of the walk.
